Malaga's water shortage problems could be over soon with the opening of a dam in the mountains, after 12 years of work to get it ready for service, the Casasola dam is now ready to start supplying Malaga city with drinking water.
Officially opened six years ago, the dam, which can hold as much as 25 cubic hectometers, has not yet come into service, work to divert a local road which will be flooded by the water will be completed over the summer.
Plans are already in place to channel water from other reservoirs in Malaga to stem the shortage in the capital.
