Defending champion Rafael Nadal outclassed American Kevin Kim to progress to the third round of French Open on Friday. The second seed thrashed his opponent 6-2 6-1 6-4 in just under two hours in a one-sided match, which was re-scheduled for Friday because of rain delays.

This was Nadal's 55th consecutive victory on clay after the Spanish teenager beat Guillermo Vilas' record of 54 on Monday with his win over Sweden's Robin Soderling.
